Science Fair
 

 
     Science Fair Project Must follow the following criteria:
 
 

1.

The project must relate to one of the following units in the science 10 curriculum:
     
           
  o sustainable ecosystems               o motion                      o weather dynamics                     o chemical reactions
 
Each of the above have been hyperlinked to a page that outlines activities that have been suggested by the provincial government in each unit. This may be helpful when selecting a science fair project.
     
  2. The project must fit into one of the following science fair areas of study:
   

 
                  
o automotive                 o biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences    
 
                  
o engineering                o computing and information technology
 
                  
o health sciences         o earth and environmental sciences
 
                  
o life sciences              o environmental innovations
 
                                         
                o physical & mathematical sciences
 

  3. The project must be done in one of three possible methods:
     
                  
o innovation                  o experiment                o study
 
     

     Steps to Completing Your Science Fair Project:
 
     
  1. Hand in the Outline, your outline should:
    a) Identify the topic.
b) Identify which science 10 unit your topic is related to.
c) Identify which science fair area of study you are looking into.
d) Identify which method you are going to use: innovation, experiment, or study.
e) Answer the questions that are linked to the method you have selected (when you click on innovation, experiment, or study above there are questions on the linked pages that need to be answered).
 
  2. Hand in the Draft, the draft should include the following:
    a) The purpose of your project.
b) Background information.
c) A hypothesis.
d) The method you are going to use.
 
     
  3. Presentation to the class:
    a) A science fair backboard must be constructed and decorated.
b) The final, "good copy," of the purpose, background, hypothesis, method, and conclusion must completed. All information is either on the backboard or in a binder that accompanies the display.
c) The student is to give a 3 to 5 minute detailed presentation on what they studied and what conclusion was arrived at due to the study.
