Day 1:
  a) Go over classroom procedures, the dos and don'ts in the science room
  b) Outline what is required of the students
  c) Go over the class syllabus
  d) Give the graphing rules and draw a graph meeting all criteria (click here for online graphing rules)
  e) Begin construction of a journal (15 pg of loose-leaf stapled together with colored cover, complete with name)

Day 2:
  a) Look at the components of a laboratory write-up
  b) Identify under which laboratory write-up headings information should be organized
  c) Enforce the importance of both quantitative and qualitative data
  d) Introduce procedure for the "Magnesium Wire in Hydrochloric Acid" laboratory

Day 3:
  a) Laboratory that practices graphing skills "Magnesium Wire in Hydrochloric Acid"
  b) Time to complete the lab write-up

Day 4:
  a) Review scientific notation - assign questions related to the skill
  b) Introduce significant figures and learn to identify how many exist in a given number
  c) Assign section A "Questions Pertaining to Identifying Significant Figures"

Day 5:
  a) Determining significant figures in numbers resulting from multiplication and division
  b) Assign section B "Dividing and Multiplying While Maintaining Significant Figures"

Day 6:
  a) Determining significant figures in numbers resulting from addition and subtraction
  b) Assign section C "Addition and Subtraction While Maintaining Significant Figures"

Day 7:
  a) Introduce dimensional analysis, primary concept and simple metric conversions
  b) Assign questions related to the skill (click here for the conversion sheet)

Day 8:
  a) Introduce length conversions
  b) Assign section D "Using Dimensional Analysis to Solve Length Conversions"

Day 9:
  a) Introduce mass and volume conversions
  b) Assign section E "Using Dimensional Analysis to Solve Mass and Volume Conversions"

Day 10:
  a) Introduce temperature conversions
  b) Assign section F "Temperature Conversions"
  c) Introduce percentage, percent yield, total population, and sample population
  d) Assign section H "Percentage"

Day 12:
  a) Practice Exam based on the material from this unit

Day 13:
  Unit Exam
