Some Adaptations have to be made in
order to meet the needs of all students |

Introverted Students
Some students, under
no circumstances, will work with other students. Although it is
encouraged that students work in pairs for the Atomic Theory
Presentations, concessions are made for such students. Often, these
students also have a fear of presenting in front of their peers, in
these cases, it is possible for the student to give a closed
presentation to myself if arranged in advance. During the presentations,
I will then step in and lightly fill the void that is created.
Auditory Challenges
When Auditory
problems are encountered, the student is situated in the most
advantageous location to allow them the ability to hear all material.
When a question is asked and is not audible, it is paraphrased back to
the student in a tone all can hear.
Visual Challenges
All information is
available in print form, if someone has difficulty seeing the overhead
or presentations, they can be moved to the location that is most
advantageous to the individual, or print material can be provided.
Hyperactivity
Some students have
difficulty focusing for the entire hour. Many of the lessons in this
unit have been divided into two radically different half-hour sessions.
The fist half of the class is strongly teacher orientated, problem
examples are taken, and discussion questions made. The second half of
the class is student orientated, often research that allows the student
to move around the library, search on the Internet, or construct
presentation materials.
Difficulty Grasping Concepts
Students work in
pairs. The pairing often has two students with strengths in radically
different areas working together. This is done so the students can learn
from one another. This way, when a student struggles with a concept, the
grouped partner should be able to help. |
