Daily Unit Timeline

Day 1: Periodic Motion 1:
Laboratory: determining the number of cycles/second and the number of seconds/cycle for the ticker-tape timer.

Day 2: Periodic Motion 2:
Time is given to work on laboratory write-up and related assignment on periodic motion.

Day 3 & 4: Wave Types and Terminology.
Hand-out with terminology of transverse and longitudinal waves with questions attached.
Use slinkys to create transverse and longitudinal waves.
Introduce unit challenge with the stroboscope and a fan.

Day 5 & 6: Principles of Superposition.
Hand-out with terminology and questions.
Use slinkys to produce constructive and destructive waves.

Day 7 & 8: The Medium
Hand-out with terminology and questions.
Use two slinkys of different sizes to create a change in medium.

Day 10 & 11: Refraction
Hand-out with terminology and questions.

Day 12-15: Standing Waves and Diffraction/Dispersion of Waves
Presentations based on the television series "the Apprentice"
Three days are given to produce a presentation on the topic assigned.
