Book Shelf- 3/4" oak plywood capped with
oak trim. Bottom right corner has a box built through to the other room for
the cats to access their boxes indiscreetly.
Swinging doors- Made out of
pine. Table saw was used to cut slots in the 1x6 cross pieces. The panels
are made from excess wood panel wainscoting. To give the doors a smooth even
finish on both sides, they were run through the giant belt sander at Balfour
Colligate. The finish is latex mixed with water.
A mock fireplace was built into the wall
to support the television. The fire place panels are covered with black
cloth allowing me to place speakers inside.
I installed hardwood floor throughout the
basement. The most challenging aspect was covering the stairs. Bar grade
flooring was used, so the poor sections of the pieces had to be cut out and
new grooves had to be made with the table saw.
The frame was built to fit the glass cut
for the project. The backing is 1/16" oak venire and the glass is decorated
with paint on stain glass.
A towel rack constructed for my bathroom. Not a complicated project, but it shows
use of a router.
Window shutters built to keep the sun out
of the room on those sunny summer mornings.
With little money, I built a 2x4 barroom
style table for my apartment in Estevan. The table top is covered in tile.
Bird house. The roof was cut on the table
saw, glued, then filled with wood putty. The stucco and shingles utilize
textured paints.
A blanket box that I built out of
wainscoting and 1x6 pine fence boards. The wainscoting was glued together,
then grooves were cut into the pine skeleton so the panels could fit snug.
I instructed
woodshop projects in my ET9 (Exploring Technology) section at Estevan
Comprehensive School
These projects included experience with concrete, drill press, and numerous
hand tools.
