The SRC at the comprehensive was running with little to no budget...I suppose one might call their budgetary strategy deficit financing. In order to tackle the SRC's financial difficulties, some teachers decided to hold an event that would collect funds for the group well also raising the profile of the school in the community.
During the course of the year I sat on the planning committee that was headed by Social Studies guiro Pat Fergusson. Time was spent brainstorming what would be required at such an event. I accepted the task of producing the tickets, helping wash dishes the evening of the event, and performing once everyone had been served and the tables cleared.
The huge success of the evening lead to the development of an annual event at the comprehensive. I was involved in the first and second annual before I moved on. But, this spring they held the third annual SRC "fun-raiser" and it was an evening of good food, fellowship, and an opportunity for the many talented students of the comprehensive to showcase there skills to this supportive community.
