As we headed south again we saw our first whale.
I think he was sleeping. |

At Terra Nova National Park site they have a touch tank.
Below are a number of the different crabs you could touch
and one of the starfish. The water was very cold and there
were around a hundred different things in the tank to touch. |

Terra Nova National park was a few hours outside of Saint John's. |

This little guy poked his head out to say hello. |

Here we are at the Eastern most point
in North America, Cape Spear which is about ten minutes outside of St.
John's. |

And again. |

We took turns taking pictures in front
of the lighthouse. |

We stayed at the "Inn on Gower" which was
a good deal and a nice room. When I phoned to
confirm they answered the phone by saying "Hostel."
That had me rather concerned, but the room and great,
private, with it's own bathroom...and 80m from the main stroll. |

Gower Street. |

These are a few pictures of the houses near downtown St. John's
when we went for a walk. |

On this evening we went to George Street to catch
some live music and test the local screech. |

A picture of us on George Street nearing the end of the evening. |

Early in the morning Aaron went for
a walk while Lindsey got ready. |

The legislative assembly in Newfoundland.
Newfound land joined Canada in 1949, until
then they had their own currency. |

Later that day we found a whale watching tour. Here is
Lindsey on the way out to see the whales, Aaron was probably
somewhere below deck trying not to toss his cookies. |

In the distance we see the blow of a hump back whale. |

As the humpback whale goes past the boat he slaps his giant
pectoral flippers on the surface of the water. |

A number of times the whale would disappear then suddenly launch
itself into the air after rushing to the surface. |

Here he is just before a jump, his tale slips below the
water as he begins to dive.

The humpback whale waves good bye. |

On the way back we go past an island covered with
little puffins. |

Here is a close up of the little guy. |

For supper, more mussles. |

On this night Lindsey tries something
different, deep fried scallops. |

Aaron sticks with the ever popular lobster. |

To end our last supper on the island, cheese cake with partridge
berries. By this time
we should have been on the ferry, but the large storm that occurred on the
way out had
forced the ferry to be seven hours behind schedule. |
